The Diabetic Diet - The Fastest Way To Lose Weight And Maintain A Healthy Lifestyle

The Diabetic Diet
The Diabetic Diet - The Fastest Way To Lose Weight And Maintain A Healthy Lifestyle.

Most of us have gone on a diet at one point or another.

The easy part is starting the diet, the hard part is sticking to it.

Consistently, the fastest way to lose weight, without putting your health at risk, is the diabetic diet.

This diet has gone by many names such as: Low Carb, South Beach, Atkins, Zone, etc.

The reason this diet has gone through so many transformations is because it does indeed work. If you lower your carbohydrate and refined sugars intake and fill up on protein and vegetables, you will lose weight.

It is all about controlling your glycemic index or blood sugar levels. You do not want to increase your sugar levels because that rise will cause you to feel hungry faster.

It’s all due to the fact that your body thinks that it needs to eat because sugar is not a good source for sustained nutrition.

When comparing our bodies and metabolisms to that of animals in the wild kingdom, you will find that the animals that need to eat a lot to stay alive, are the animals that eat items high in sugar and low in protein, such as herbivores.

The animals that can go days without the need for food are the carnivore/high protein eaters such as: bears, wild cats, snakes, and members of the crocodilian family. Protein is not as quickly digested and absorbed into your blood stream, so you will feel full for longer and it offers a sustained source of nutrition.

Your body is not telling you it needs to eat again because your glucose level is not plummeting. Knowing that you are doing what is right for your body is a wonderful way to feel healthy and confident in yourself.

Many people find it nearly impossible to go without eating some of the worst causes of increased glucose levels given their predominance in the meals we eat on a daily basis. The most popular of these foods are: refined bread and pasta, potatoes, and sweets which can make it very difficult to stay away from these items.

Instead, you need to focus on whole grain bread and pasta, replacing high carbohydrate sides with salads or steamed veggies, increasing your protein choices and replacing a sugary sweet treat with either fresh fruit or a nice fresh fruit smoothie.

Although fruits are high in sugars, they are not refined and do not get immediately absorbed into the blood stream. They are slowly broken down and absorbed at a more consistent rate.

There are many reliable sources on the net that are free and accessible to anyone wishing to improve their dietary consumption. The American Diabetes Association is a nonprofit organization that offers many helpful tips and recipes on their website.

Also, many of the most commonly used portals (AOL, Yahoo, MSN) have recognized the need to cater to the increasing diabetic population and have a plethora of invaluable information.

Of course, any healthy diet should include the dreaded aspect of exercise. But, as you will see when practicing the diabetic diet for a few weeks, your energy level will increase.

You will feel more active and the benefits of exercise will compound the way you feel and look. The diabetic diet is not about starving yourself, it is all about maintaining your glucose level.

If you feel hungry, eat!

Just make smart choices in what you eat. If you are true to the diet, it will be true to you.

You can lose weight and feel happier and healthier without feeling hungry, or paying loads of cash for a dietary plan that leaves you empty, in your stomach, wallet or soul.
